Day1: Arrival in Delhi

Take a flight out of Kochi (the closest airport to Alleppey) to Delhi and you are going to feel the heart of India beating as you take off. Once you have checked in at your hotel, do not rush with the trip, you should start with a nice introduction, and it starts in the Lodhi Art District, where colorful murals transform the walls of the city into outdoor museums. Continue on to the serene Lodhi Gardens which are ideal to have an evening walk through the tombs that date back centuries. Before heading to bed, have dinner at the Khan market, where world cuisines are served with an opulence atmosphere.

Day 2: Cultural exploration of Delhi

Begin your day in a robust North Indian breakfast and then go out to visit the masterpieces of the Mughal in Delhi. Start with the UNESCO World Heritage site of Humayun, which boasts of grand architecture of the Mughal. Next go Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah a heartfelt Sufi shrine that has qawwalis floating about. Every day, post lunch, visit the tallest brick minaret, Qutub Minar in the world, and its environs of ancient ruins. In the evening, visit Mehrauli Archaeological Park, which is a treasure trove of the forgotten tombs and lush lanes. Wrap up the day with a warm dinner in a garden restaurant in Mehrauli.

Day 3: Explore Old Delhi

Nowadays, go back in time and feel the beauty of Old Delhi. Start with the grand Red Fort which was the place of Mughal rule. Take a walk through Chandni Chowk, where streets are filled with spice peddlers, cloth salespeople and street foods. Do not pass the yummy parathas at the Parathi Weli Gali and sweets at the Ghantewala Halwai. Explore the Jama Masjid which is one of the largest mosques in India and spend the evening on a rickshaw ride through the brightly lit-up bazaars- a wonderful experience of taking in the old-world charm of Delhi.

Day 4: Spiritual and Cultural Circuit

Begin your trip with a trip to Akshardham Temple, the contemporary masterpiece of arts, architecture, and religion. Next, visit the Lotus Temple, the Baha'i House of Worship with its famous serene and petal-like shape. Have lunch and then explore the history of India in the National Museum, representing India’s rich heritage. Spend your evening in an India Habitat centre, where the art exhibitions, live performances and cafes are a way of giving the ambiance of culture yet a relaxed atmosphere.

Day 5: Shopping Delight Modern Delhi

To-day adopt the modern facade of Delhi. Go to the Kingdom of Dreams in Gurugram where there is themed dining and Bollywood-style musicals, which present Indian culture in splendour. After lunch, do some retail therapy in Select Citywalk Mall or Dilli Haat, where the craftsmen of India, India and other parts of the world sell their craft, textiles, and jewelry. When the night arrives, enjoy a last-minute dinner at Pandara road, and enjoy the taste of the traditional Mughlai cuisine.

Day 6: Leisure & Departure

On your final day, take it slow. Have a relaxed breakfast and go to Garden of Five Senses to have a relaxing walk among flowers and sculptures. Providing that time will allow it to be so, finish your final cup of Delhi chai at Connaught place and then proceed to the airport to board your plane back to Alleppey. You will take with you not only souvenirs, but memories--of forts and faith, tastes and faces--which make up the heart of Delhi.
