Detailed Gujarat Textile & Handicraft Tour Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ahmedabad โ€“ Introduction to Gujarat Crafts.

Go to Ahmedabad and check in to your hotel. Your tour should start with one of the greatest museums of textiles in the world, the Calico Museum of Textiles, after taking a short rest. The museum gives a solid base on the rich weaving, dyeing, and embroidery traditions of Gujarat.

During the evening, go to local craft stores and heritage markets where one can see the home decor and handmade textiles. Overnight stay in Ahmedabad.

 

Day 2: Ahmedabad โ€“ Artisan Walks and Design Heritage.

After breakfast, the old city of Ahmedabad was established in 1969 and can be explored on a guided heritage walk where pol houses, temples and local markets clearly demonstrate the artistic background of the city.

Then, pay a visit to textile studios and design studios that combine the traditional methods with the modern style. During the nighttime, you can do shopping at the law gardenstyle markets or curated craft boutiques. Overnight stay in Ahmedabad.

 

Day 3: Ahmedabad โ€“ Patan โ€“ Modhera.

In the morning, visit Patan, an ancient town of Patola silk weaving. stop Visit Patola weaving families to learn the complex technique of doubleikat that is one of the most complicated techniques of textile arts in the world.

Then, later on, go to the Modhera Sun Temple where one can see the temple architecture and carvings that depict the old artistic mastery. Stay overnight at Patan or Modhera.

 

Day 4: Patan โ€“ Little Rann of Kutch.

Start off towards the Little Rann of Kutch. Arrival Check in a desert lodge/ecostay. During the afternoon, explore the villages around the area that are famous for the form of embroidery including Rabari and Bharwad. Communicate with craftsmen and watch how people do needlework. Evening at leisure. Camping around the Little Rann.

 

Day 5: Little Rann โ€“ Bhuj.

Travel to Bhuj, the cultural centre of Kutch after breakfast. Get in your hotel and relax. Then go to Aina Mahal and Prag Mahal to know how royalty supported arts and crafts. Visit local markets where there is textile, silver jewelry and leather crafts in the evening. Overnight stay in Bhuj.

 

Day 6: Bhuj โ€“ Craft Villages of Kutch.

This day is likely to be used in exploring craft villages in Bhuj. Tour Ajrahi block printing, bandhani tiedye villages where Rogan is practiced and leather. Meet the families of artisans, observe live shows and discover how natural dyes and traditional processes are produced. Overnight stay at Bhuj.

 

Day 7: Bhuj โ€“ Mandvi.

Then take a trip to Mandvi a town on the coast which is characterized by royal background and crafts. Visit Vijay Vilas Palace- architectural beauty and artistic characterization.

During the afternoon, visit some of the villages that are nearby, which are weaving and embroidering. Mandvi Beach has evening leisure that provides relaxation on a craft exploration. Overnight stay in Mandvi.

 

Day 8: Mandvi โ€“ Jamnagar.

Breakfast, and go on to Jamnagar. Arrive and check in to your hotel. Go to local workshops and centers on crafts that specialize in brass work, metal crafts, and local textile designs. Visit local bazaars that are associated with traditional hand crafts. Overnight stay in Jamnagar.

 

Day 9: Jamnagar โ€“ Dwarka.

Breakfast and proceed to Dwarka. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and see Dwarkadhish Temple that is one of the spiritual places, which have shaped the art and culture of the locals.

During the evening, visit the markets with religious handicrafts, beadwork and souvenirs of the local communities. Overnight stay in Dwarka.

 

Day 10: Dwarka โ€“ Porbandar.

On breakfasting, make our way to Porbandar. Exploration of the artisan markets at the coast, along with the visit of Kirti Mandir and Sudama Temple. The local crafts in Porbandar are indicative of a combination of local influences and a blend of Gujarati styles. Overnight stay in Porbandar.

 

Day 11: Porbandar โ€“ Ahmedabad.

Break your breakfast and start coming back to Ahmedabad. Upon arrival, get to your hotel and have a rest. Spend the night in a visit to the favorite craft stores or visit a cultural program (where possible). Overnight stay in Ahmedabad.

 

Day 12: Ahmedabad โ€“ Departure.
